To Cardiff. Companies registered in Scotland have posted their documents to the Cardiff office since September 2023.

Does Companies House still have a Belfast postal address?

No. It stopped accepting post at its Belfast office on 4 March 2024. All post goes to Cardiff.

Why Everything Goes to Cardiff

Companies House says you must send all documents to its main office in Cardiff. This applies to companies registered in Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and Wales. Scottish companies have posted to Cardiff since September 2023, and the Belfast office stopped taking post on 4 March 2024.

If you send post to the wrong address, Companies House says it may be redirected and take longer to arrive.

Forms, Not Letters

Filings need the official form rather than a letter. For example, changing your registered office uses form AD01, and a paper confirmation statement uses form CS01, which costs £110 and must include the identity verification details for all your current directors. Both are posted to Cardiff.

Identity Verification

Since 18 November 2025, directors and people with significant control must verify their identity. This is done through GOV.UK One Login, an Authorised Corporate Service Provider or in person at the Post Office, not by post.

Objecting to a Strike Off

You can currently object online, or in some cases by email or post. A posted objection must arrive at least 2 weeks before the company will be struck off. From 1 December 2026, Companies House says objections will need to be made online.

Complaints

Complaints about Companies House's service are made through its online form. It normally replies within 28 days. You can then ask for a second tier review, then go to the independent adjudicators if your complaint is less than 6 months old, and finally ask your MP to refer it to the Public Service Ombudsman.
