How It Works

When to Send a Tracked Letter
- Complaints and disputes, where you want a record that your letter arrived

Tracked 24 or Tracked 48?
Both services are tracked by Royal Mail from posting to the door, with a photo on delivery and cover of up to £75. Tracked 24 costs £8.99 and aims to deliver the next working day. Tracked 48 costs £7.99 and aims for 2 to 3 working days.
Neither is guaranteed. If your letter must arrive by a set time, use Special Delivery, which is guaranteed by 1pm the next working day.
Tracked or Signed For?
Tracked letters show each step of the journey and a photo on delivery, but nobody signs for them. Signed For takes a signature on delivery, but it is not tracked along the way. If you need a signature and tracking together, choose Special Delivery.
If Your Letter Goes Missing
We post tracked letters in a large envelope, which is the size Royal Mail's Tracked services need. If a tracked letter has not arrived, you can report it on our Report a Missing Letter page and ask for a free resend or a refund. We check the tracking and tell you by email.
